Lily has made artistic endeavors accessible to a novice with no experience drawing or painting. Her brilliant clear instruction makes learning this creative expression a joy! She gives her students confidence and excellent feedback to press through thinking and seeing with new perspective. In only a few weeks I have created artwork for the first time that I am proud of and cannot wait to learn more with each new session. Lily is a gifted teacher and I highly recommend her courses!

This course has definitely been an enlightening and fun time for me! I loved doing the activities and learning the concepts and techniques. More than that, I really enjoyed creating something with my hands in a fun and relaxed setting. Lily is an excellent teacher and guide, and was able to keep a great balance between being both authoritative and non-judgemental. She pointed out areas for improvement as well as encouraged the participants when we did something well. I looked forward to each class so I could simply draw, paint, enjoy the outcomes of my efforts, and laugh when I made a mistake. I can definitely say that this aspect of the course was very therapeutic for me. In just 8 weeks, I got the opportunity to expand my understanding of observational drawing techniques, learn to see the world around me from a fresh perspective, and become confident in my drawing and painting skills. I also very much appreciated that each class was relaxing and fun, as well as an opportunity to have quality bonding time with my daughter. Thank you, Lily, for creating this class and sharing your unique gift with us!

The course provided a great overview of basic drawing and painting techniques guided by Lily who was wonderfully enthusiastic and supportive. As a complete novice at drawing, having done little since I was a child, the introduction of new techniques were really helpful in enabling me to develop confidence and enjoyment in drawing. The course was well paced and varied and with lots of opportunities to apply the techniques being taught.

Inspiring Clear instructions that build on the earlier lessons Fun warm-ups Challenging This has been the best course my children and I have done together. We have all learnt so much. Two of my older children have done art GCSE or A level in school and never been taught these skills. This is a great course for those in school to fill in the huge gaps that teachers aren’t teaching, or for homeschoolers who want professional tuition that will enable them to build up an incredible portfolio. Lily teaches you how to look and see using the right brain so that you can translate what you see onto paper using different mediums. I would be confident to use this as my sole teaching in preparing my child for art GCSE. She teaches all the skills to be able to produce a wide variety of work. Once mastered, the pupil could easily transfer the skills to work within GCSE themes. Lily covers: How to use the space around the object to help you see where to place all the elements on the page How to represent light medium and dark tones to make the subject look 3D How to use colours How to build up a painting step by step How to use old masters and contemporary artists as sources of inspiration How to discover and express your own style We were able to experiment with a variety of mediums. Some lessons we had such fun with the warm-ups that we stopped halfway through the lesson and came back to the second half the next day. The course enables you to work at your own pace. We will be returning to various lessons throughout the year to remind ourselves and build on what we have learnt. The course is packed with content and lots of homework ideas to embed what was taught through practice. Most of all, we had fun learning together and each of us are really proud of what we produced. We now have a range of quality work waiting to be framed and put around the house.
